The cocoa bean or just cocoa (/ ˈ k oʊ. k oʊ /), which is also called the cacao bean or cacao (/ k ə ˈ k aʊ /), is the dried and fully fermented seed of Theobroma cacao, from which cocoa solids and, because of the seed's fat, cocoa butter can be extracted.
